We are living in times of uncertainty and have faced big changes in our lives and are understandably stressed. So how can we cope and make changes going forward? The first thing is to try to stay on a modified schedule and organize your time as you did before Covid-19. You also need to look at your physical health. Are you eating nutritious foods? Do you skip meals and snack all day? Your immune system works best to keep you healthy if you eat essential foods to maintain a healthy state. Some immune boosting foods include: blueberries, broccoli, sweet potatoes, spinach, and almonds, to name a few.
Are you sleeping enough hours each night? You can adapt to more stressful situations if you get the rest your body needs. Don’t forget to continue to be active and exercise. Exercise gives you a natural “high” by producing endorphins.
Other things you can try to help with your stress are meditation and deep breathing exercises. Communicate with a family member or friend by one of the many available applications to prevent isolation. Maybe start a new hobby that you’ve always wanted to try or play with your children and pets. Another idea is to use aromatherapy with scents proven to help you relax such as lavender, rosemary, peppermint, and lemon. A topical cream like Milkweed Balm can also help to ease pain and stress. Not only does Milkweed Balm help with pain, some products contain lavender and citrus to provide you with soothing relaxing smells. It’s up to each of us to look after ourselves so we’ll be ready to participate in the world again. Try some of these small changes and see if your stress and anxiety is reduced.
